The Perennial Institute is an experimental education project exploring creativity through the lens of plants. We are especially interested in how creative thinkers can deepen connections with this important resource to expand their practice. We believe that plants are our overlooked teachers, and by spending time with them, listening to them, and exploring their possibilities, we can grow together, for a better future.
The Perennial Institute was initiated by Jai McKenzie, an artist and researcher with a PhD in visual art from the University of Sydney, Australia. She has taught art and design students at Sydney College of the Arts and the University of Technology Sydney. Jai has spent the last seven years engaged in Berlin's contemporary art scene, and has worked for local artists Haegue Yang and Olafur Eliasson.
